🌿 Arctic Promenade Walk - Private Guided Tour in Tromsø
Tromsø Domkirke - Kirkegata 7, 9008 Tromsø

Discover Tromsø’s history, identity, and Arctic spirit step by step on a private guided walk designed entirely around you. Starting from Tromsø Cathedral, we follow the city’s beautiful waterfront promenade — but this is far more than a scenic walk. It’s a journey through centuries of polar exploration, coastal life, local legends, and everyday culture.

Along the way, you’ll hear stories about the people and events that shaped Tromsø — from daring Arctic expeditions and bustling trade routes to forgotten curiosities, historical landmarks, and quirky tales hidden in plain sight. Each stop is a chance to see the city through local eyes, with time for questions, conversations, and spontaneous detours.

Because this is a fully private experience, the pace and content are completely tailored to you. Want to spend more time photographing the view? Dive deeper into a particular chapter of history? Or simply enjoy quiet moments by the sea? The choice is yours.

We pause along the way for coffee or tea and a locally baked pastry — enjoyed outdoors, just like the locals do. I’ll also take photos throughout the tour, which you’ll receive afterwards as a digital album.

The walk ends in the peaceful Telegrafbukta, one of Tromsø’s most beloved outdoor spaces. From there, a bus will bring you comfortably back to the city centre — ticket included. Best of all, you’ll share this experience only with your chosen group, without crowds or strangers.

About Hei Tromsø

“Authentic experiences – guided with knowledge, passion, and Arctic endurance”

We are a small family-run company, founded in 2025, built on a deep love for Tromsø, the mountains, and the raw beauty of Arctic nature. From here, we offer real experiences – close, safe, and personal.

Behind the guiding is Erlend, a dedicated outdoor enthusiast with a lifelong connection to the mountains. He has crossed the peaks around Tromsø countless times, in all seasons, whether on skis or running shoes – both in winter’s snowy wilderness and the endless daylight of summer.

With a background as a physiotherapist and years of experience working with both young and old, Erlend makes people feel safe and welcome. He has also been a training instructor, working with national teams and top-level athletes – but just as eager to help everyday people find joy and motivation in movement.

Erlend has a genuine wish to share his love for nature – not just the famous highlights, but also the hidden gems, the secret viewpoints you didn’t know you wanted on your bucket list.

Under the midnight sun or the dancing Northern Lights, whether by campfire or in the stillness of the mountains, magical moments are created in the Arctic. Together we walk, run, breathe, and feel our pulse rise – always with safety, care, and unforgettable nature experiences at the heart.

In addition to being a passionate guide, Erlend is also a keen photographer, capturing memories along the way so guests can take their experiences home. He speaks fluent Norwegian and English, and also some basic German.

Tailor-Made Tours

Whether you prefer a classic favorite hike or a unique new adventure – a long run, a campfire evening, or nature photography under the Arctic sky – Erlend will tailor the experience to your wishes. It’s all about challenge, tranquility, and good stories in the great outdoors.

Sustainability & Responsibility

Nature gives us so much, and we believe it is our responsibility to give back. Sustainability is a natural part of every experience we create – we minimize our footprint and follow the principle of leaving nature better than we found it.

An Introduction to Our Name

“Hei” is more than just a word. In Northern Norway it’s a smile, a small nod – a sign of community. When we meet on a trail, in the mountains, or along the coast, we say “hei” – even if we don’t know each other. It’s about respect, about sharing the moment, and about being part of something greater.

“Hei Tromsø” is built on this very idea, the strong value of Arctic hospitality. We want to meet you with the same openness – whether you come from the other side of the world or are a local yourself. Through small groups, real encounters, and closeness to nature, we create experiences where you can feel belonging and calm.

The name Hei Tromsø represents a fellowship we invite you to be part of. It’s a place where we cheer each other on, say “hei” to new adventures – and show you Tromsø as we know it: close, genuine, and full of nature’s contrasts.

We say hei – and welcome you into nature.
